Aki Leinonen is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Power Grid Engineers (PGE) and a specialist in electrical power quality and FACTS. With three decades of experience, Aki has contributed to laboratory testing, design engineering, R&D, and hands-on commissioning of various FACTS systems. He has delivered tailored solutions to meet customer-specific needs, including comprehensive system studies. Notably, he helped design and deliver the world's first medium-voltage 144 Mvar 33 kV active filter and a 1000 Mvar 500 kV transmission line series compensation system. As an expert in energy storage systems (ESS), Aki has advanced ESS as a universal power quality solution and influenced tariffs and regulations in Scandinavia. He holds several patents.
